'No Planet B': human chains, Hollywood heavyweights join global climate rallies

Activists dressed as polar bears and Hollywood stars joined hundreds of thousands of people in colourful rallies across the globe Sunday to demand action on climate change, reminding world leaders on the eve of a crunch UN summit that there is "no planet B". From Sydney to London, from Amsterdam to Rio, an estimated 570,000 took to the streets in 2,300 separate events across 175 countries at the weekend, co-organiser and campaign group Avaaz said. Some 50,000 demonstrators gathered in London's Hyde Park alone, many donning animal costumes to resemble bumblebees, cows, polar bears and exotic fish, while others brandished placards bearing stark warnings.
