NEW YORK -- Nova Scotia soprano Barbara Hannigan has picked up a Grammy for "Crazy Girl Crazy" in the best classical solo vocal album category.
It's the first Grammy win for the contemporary opera singer.
She worked double duty for the album, serving as both a vocalist and conductor for the Amsterdam-based Ludwig Orchestra.
Hannigan is the second Canadian to win a Grammy in a pre-telecast ceremony hosted by Paul Shaffer and streamed live on the Grammys website.
Charles Moniz of Burlington, Ont. shared a Grammy win earlier in the ceremony for "24K Magic" by Bruno Mars, which scored best engineered album, non-classical.
