On Tuesday night's "Daily Show," Stewart envisioned himself hosting a new show on C-SPAN 2 called "Hatewatch," and tried his best to adopt the network's calm and even demeanor.
It didn't last.
When the Senate botched the approval of what should have been a noncontroversial sex-trafficking bill, Stewart found the usual politics at work: Republicans adding an abortion provision and Democrats admitting they hadn't actually read the bill to catch that provision while it was in committee.
Or as Stewart put it: "fuckery and dumbassery" at work derailing a bill everyone agrees should be a law.
