Iman Mashouf, heir to the billion-dollar Bebe apparel fortune, has snapped up the fresh Los Angeles condo of interior designer Kara Smith, Mansion Global has learned.
The pair closed on the two-bedroom apartment on the 14th floor of the Empire West, a swanky 1960s condominium in West Hollywood, this week for $2.975 million, according to listing agency Compass.

Ms. Smith, whose firm SFA did the interiors of one of San Francisco’s most lavish new condo buildings, The Harrison, as well as The Bower in Hollywood, only owned the home for three years, according to property records. But naturally she left her designer’s touch on the home, said listing agent Neyshia Go of Compass.
“This was without a doubt one of the most impressive and well-designed personalized units to become available in West Hollywood,” said Ms. Go, who co-listed the unit with Aaron Kirman, also of Compass. “The seller designed this with incredible attention to detail and with only the best materials since this was her personal home.”
The home’s open interiors give a wink to Art Deco design, including herringbone walnut floors, mirrored accent walls in the kitchen and subtle millwork. There’s also a contemporary stone fireplace and a custom-built bar, according to the listing agents.
At 2,200 square feet, the apartment is one of the largest single units at Empire West, a 17-story building which comes with its own set of perks. Residents enjoy a shared gym, spa, tennis court and rooftop pool, which is currently under renovation.

Mr. Mashouf, whose father, Manny Mashouf, 81, founded Bebe Stores in 1976, was attracted to the unit’s modern style, said his real estate agent Nichole Shanfeld, also of Aaron Kirman Group at Compass.
“Iman is a young professional with sophisticated taste, who loves to entertain,” Ms. Shanfeld said. “For him, views, location and impeccable design were necessary and this unit checked all those boxes.”
He and Ms. Smith could not immediately be reached for comment.
