Tatiana Maslany, Sandra Oh nominated for Emmys

TORONTO -- Canadian actresses Tatiana Maslany and Sandra Oh have been nominated for Emmy Awards.

The two are both up for best actress in a drama series.

Maslany is nominated for playing multiple clones on "Orphan Black," which aired its final season on Space last year.

Ottawa-raised Oh is a contender for playing a secret service operative on BBC America's "Killing Eve," which debuts in Canada on July 22 on Bravo.

Maslany won an Emmy for her role on "Orphan Black" in 2016.

Oh was previously nominated for five Emmys for "Grey's Anatomy," in which she played Dr. Cristina Yang for 10 seasons.

"Full Frontal with Samantha Bee," hosted by the titular Toronto-born comedian, also received a nod for Outstanding Variety Talk Series.

Bee is also nominated for outstanding writing in a variety series where two other Canadians are recognized, including Montreal's Barry Julien, one of the writers on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," and Lorne Michaels of "Saturday Night Live."

Toronto native Jeremy Podeswa is up for an award for outstanding directing in a drama series for HBO's "Game Of Thrones," a category in which Ottawa-born Kari Skogland is also competing in for Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale."

John Weber, who founded Toronto-based Take 5 Productions, is part of the team nominated for best children's program as an executive producer on the Netflix adaptation of "A Series Of Unfortunate Events."

Michael Che and Colin Jost will host the 70th Emmys, which are set for Sept. 17 on NBC.
