BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Ryan Coogler says he had to learn how to be more efficient to make "Black Panther."

The 31-year-old filmmaker had only made two comparatively small films in "Fruitvale Station" and "Creed" before signing on to tackle the superhero for Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Co.

He says in order to take on the massive, $200 million blockbuster he had to both delegate and do in 30 minutes what it took him two hours to do on his last film.

Actor Michael B. Jordan, who was worked with Coogler on his two previous films, says the director stayed true to himself, bonding with the cast through music and making the actors feel like they are family.

"Black Panther" opens nationwide Friday.
