The Montreal Symphony Orchestra is launching an investigation in the wake of sexual assault allegations against renowned former conductor Charles Dutoit.
A spokesman for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, where Dutoit served as music director for nearly 25 years, confirmed Sunday Dutoit is the subject of a complaint.
Pascale Ouimet said he could not provide any additional information.
The orchestra on Saturday announced an independent, third party would conduct an investigation of sexual harassment.
The Associated Press on Thursday reported allegations against Dutoit by three opera singers and a classical musician who said he sexually assaulted them in incidents between 1985 and 2010.
Dutoit’s office has issued a statement saying there is no truth to the allegations.
"The allegations made against me are as shocking to me as they are to my friends and colleagues. I do not recognize the man or the actions being described in the media," he said in a statement emailed to the Associated Press.
Eight major symphonies have ended their relationships with Dutoit since The AP’s story was published.
