CHASKA, Minn. -- A Minnesota judge has rejected a petition by three of the six heirs of the late rock superstar Prince to fire Comerica Bank & Trust as executor of his estate.
Carver County District Judge Kevin Eide on Monday found that removing Comerica is not in the best interests of the estate. He named retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice James Gilbert to serve as moderator and mediator between Comerica and the heirs.
Prince left no will when he died of an accidental overdose last year. This year Eide declared Prince's six surviving siblings as his heirs.
Sharon, Norrine and John Nelson sought Comerica's removal after they learned Comerica had moved the recordings in Prince's vault at Paisley Park to a secure facility in California.
The three other heirs opposed removing Comerica.
