Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' passes one billion views on YouTube

TORONTO -- Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" has surpassed one billion views on YouTube.

The unshakable pop chart smash raced past the mark on Sunday, putting it in the company of videos from the pop elite, including Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes and Psy.

"This is crazy town. THANK YOU to all involved in making this baby spread," Jepsen wrote in a tweet on Monday.

It's an achievement that's been a long time coming for the Canadian singer.

While her music video was released on March 1, 2012, it was a separate clip featuring Bieber, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale lip-synching and dancing to the song which went viral and helped make the track a worldwide phenomenon.

In the months that followed, Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" became one of the biggest songs of the summer, ranking No. 2 on Billboard's Year-End Charts for 2012, behind Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know."
