It opens at cinemas on March 4, starring Fey as heroine Kim, Australian actress Margot Robbie as beautiful TV reporter Tanya, Billy Bob Thornton as a gruff US colonel, and British actors Martin Freeman and Alfred Molina as Fey's hapless love interest and long-suffering Afghan fixer. The action is basely loosely on "The Taliban Shuffle," a pithy 2011 memoir written by journalist Kim Barker of her time as South Asia bureau chief for The Chicago Tribune from 2004 to 2009.
