Happy Monday everyone!
I'm not sure if you've heard, but tonight is Disney Week on Dancing with The Stars - does it get better than that?! I doubt that I am any different than other girls in that I have always dreamed of playing a princess - and tonight I will get to do that! And not just any princess, I get to pretend I'm one of the most famous princesses around - Anna from Frozen - no pressure at all!
This week has been so much fun for Derek and I...we actually have to get into the characters for our routine to "Love is an Open Door," which we decided to make a jazz dance. I think it's a dance that the audience can really get into and hopefully we will do the characters justice! Really losing ourselves in the storyline of the movie has been one of our main focuses for this week.
Speaking of this week, it was another crazy one! Derek and I just had basically three days to perfect our routine because I had to leave New York on Thursday night for an appearance in Chicago on Friday.
This summer I will be traveling around the country on my very own Shine Tour talking to girls about the importance of self-confidence and always setting goals for themselves. Our second stop was in Chicago and I hope that everyone that attended left feeling motivated because I know that I was so inspired by all of the girls that I met on Friday.
It is such a privilege to be able to spend time with people that support me and I hope this tour allows me to maybe help girls with the issues that they are facing by sharing some of the experiences that I have gone through, especially over the last few years. I have had so many wonderful opportunities in my life and I am so grateful for each and every one of them, but like everyone else, I also face hard times and disappointments and the number one thing that I have learned is to make sure that you surround yourself with people that are going to love and support you through both the good times and the bad. I always remember Oprah's famous quote, "lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down."
Thank you to all of my supportive fans that have rooted for me not only throughout my gymnastics career, but now also on my Dancing with the Stars weekly journey. I'm working hard every week to try to show all the viewers how lucky I feel to have this amazing opportunity. Thank you for your continued support and please vote for #TeamHoughkin: 1-855-234-5604 or online at http://vote-e.abc.go.com/shows/dancing-with-the-stars/vote/season-20.
