A year after her relationship with Aaron Carter ended in 2003, Hilary Duff moved on with a very different kind of boyfriend. The then 16-year-old Duff and her romance with Good Charlotte member Joel Madden was publicly scrutinized given their age difference: he was nine years her senior. And because of her squeaky-clean Disney star image, many (creepy?) fans speculated on whether or not Madden took her virginity.
Well, after all these years, Duff is coming clean in the April issue of Cosmopolitan. Kind of.
“I had a 26-year-old boyfriend,” Duff told the magazine of Madden, whom she dated from July 2004 to November 2006. “So everyone can make their own assumptions about what I was doing.”
