It's hard to imagine Chelsea Peretti playing anyone on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" other than sarcastic dance queen Gina Linetti, the hilarious civilian administrator who has gained a large fan base over the show's two seasons with her quick wit and vast array of perfectly GIF-able moments. But, as Peretti revealed in a HuffPost Live interview Wednesday, Gina didn't exist in the show's first form.
"Should I drop a bomb? I initially auditioned for the part of Rosa, which was not called Rosa at the time," she told host Ricky Camilleri. "Did not get it, but they called me and were like, 'We're going to writing a different part for you.' So my part was not in the script that I initially read."
Peretti's inclusion in the show is no surprise, as she collaborated with creators Dan Goor and Michael Schur on "Parks and Recreation." Peretti confirmed that, as anyone familiar with the show and Peretti's stand-up can attest to, much of her "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" character comes from her actual personality.
"Do I love the part?" she asked rhetorically. "Yes, it's a miracle."
